BREAK TIME
A little break for Wendi and myself over Super Bowl weekend... at Cornerstone Farm where the snow and ice and beautiful sun glows! Tomorrow I'll be in the woods a bit and more photos for us. Rest is good... God calls us to it and what a tonic the outdoors is! Grace to you :)

LOTS OF STUFF
COMPUTING-
So... been enjoying computing more and more. Playing with a load of fresh Linux operating system distros, mostly live ones (boot the cd, play around, boot out and return to your original OS...) In my case, mostly it's DSL Linux on my old junker laptop, which I'm typing on right now. At work, I have a version of PC/OS Linux from last year... a re-do of Ubuntu with a few other things in the core of it... very fast and very nice. But I've been exploring Austrumi Linux again. It's from Latvia but has an English setting. To my eyes the prettiest Linux (or otherwise) desktop ever (version 8.0 or 8.1 series). Austrumi loads into ram memory, spits the cd out so you can use the cd or dvd player for other stuff while you're computing. You read that right, the entire (50 megs... no kiddin') operating system just lives live in the memory until you reboot your machine which returns you to your original os. Anyhow, I'm loving it. TinyMe, TinyCore and just today another Ubuntu-based flavor of Linux called (who thunk this name up...?!!) Debris Linux are all fun for me lately.
MUSIC-
Well, I finally pulled out an old piezzo pickup and after about an hour of work, assembled a stompboard. What's that? Well, the one I made is about 16x14 inches and about 2 inches thick. It reminds me of a backgammon case, but all wood, no leather. I stuffed it (with a friend's help) with acoustic foam and in the end, one just plugs a guitar cable into it, then into a bass amp or p.a. system cranking the treble down and bass up... and on the floor, you just stomp with one or both feet in various spots and get the different tones out of it... a poor man's electronic (not really) porch board sound! So this one-man-band thing comes about when I play cigarbox guitar or dobro, etc.. Well, one can find various one's of these on the web, but in the end I just had to make mine.
Further, I am nearly done with two "cigarbox guitar" sort of things... both 3 stringers, both with pickups. I won't get into what those are about but hopefully I'll practice enough to add 'em to upcoming solo blues sets. Fun stuff.
The other night I was blessed to see/hear two great bands at our Garden Room Coffeehouse- Photoside Cafe (now recording a cd at our Tone Zone Studios, to be released on Grrr Records) as well as our own Brian Grover with band doing
a meld of blues/eastern/ambient/Tom Waits-ish music that blew me away. Both bands were just amazing. A wonderful time was had by all, that's for sure.
VIDEOBLOGS-
Back to computing- and photos. I've been doing a lot more with Facebook, and added photos there as per my last blog... but am also playing with a slew of ideas for 3 minute videoblogs I'm likely to post on YouTube and Facebook... -when- I get a slew of 'em done. In some ways probably more efficient and better to get points across than mere podcasts. But I'd like to get both going soon.
INTERVIEW-
CrossRhythms in the UK has set up a live interview for February. I'll post more on that soon, but in any case some of you may find it convenient to listen in. Should be fun with old mates Mike Rimmer and Tony Cummings doing the show. I'm looking forward to it.
TOUR DATES-
We'll be working this month to finalize a fair bit of the 2009 touring calendar for myself solo, Glenn Kaiser Band (3 piece blues rock) doing tours around the recent Octane cd, and details on the REZ european tour dates.
Thanks for your prayers- stay tuned!
Pray for our new president, family and staff... Lord knows they/we/this world need such prayers!

Just Published some 2008 Pics (and perhaps the earliest REZ pub. photo ever) on my Facebook page...
Working on some fresh content here... we'll see what I can get done this week. Praying and planning and responding to tour requests as well... thanks for your prayers :)
