New Video Offering Coming this Fall-

Just finished filming at Tone Zone Studios in Chicago... and after a few years of planning, we got the time and the people together, and now have the makings for a (or perhaps a series... we'll figure that out after editing) part instructional-part philosophical vid shoot of me chatting about electric rhythm and lead guitar playing, acoustic and dobro guitar playing, harmonica (acoustic and electrified), gear I use, tools of the trade, and some thoughts on singing and songwriting.

Parts of it are fairly similar to a lot of musician's teaching-aid videos we've seen, but parts of it are perhaps more suited to fans, as a witness to those viewing and just background info. on why and to an extent, how I do what I do as a musician. I get into a number of basics, some intermediate and some more advanced advice, techniques and such.

So stay tuned, we'll announce the title(s) and release dates as well as mode (dvd, secure online downloads) available when the editing and production work is finished later this autumn.

Kudos to Nathan Cameron and Ed Bialach for great filming and engineering work on this project! Ditto to Tom Cameron and all Grrr staff for all their support for each of our projects.

New Audio Offering Coming As Well-
Tom Cameron's nearly finished assembling Blues Heaven Two- which is of course a follow-up to Blues Heaven. The compilation will feature a fresh selection of blues-based tracks from Rez Band, my solo projects as well as GKB tunes and perhaps a live cut or two never before released.

GKB Recording Plans-
Finally, we've not yet set the dates but it looks like GKB will record a new studio project at some point in '07. We've got a LOT of tunes ready to be considered, and I think between Roy and I we'll have some fun laying down the tracks this next year.

More writing coming over the next week- Wendi and I, and at the same time, the Montroy's are going on our vacations! Yahoo!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Love and Hugs, -Glenn

THE MOVE... AND THE TURNING AWAY

I have recently heard from an old friend whose daughter is moving out of the house. There is that sense of loss when one you've loved up close is going to be further away, geographically, and perhaps emotionally and in other ways. There is no getting around it, and one must take those tears and sense of separation to God for help and comfort.

The difference is between moving away and turning away.

I have experienced both, on more than a few occasions.

Moving is something that often must be done, and God leads many to travel, take a position, area of service or educational opportunity. The shift is difficult, at times very much so, but the attitudes and love are intact between parents and children, siblings or close friends in a church, band or other group of people.

Then there is the turning away, the rift that rips apart, that tearing that indicates more heat than light, more pride than humility, more self-righteousness then that of Christ. It may be yourself, the other person(s) or perhaps both of you. But it's a far more difficult matter to deal with emotionally and otherwise.

Thank God and and you will find peace in the moving... seek God and ponder, intercede and re-think your motives, true desires and ultimate truths of God's Word when facing a turning away.

Glenn and GKB Tour, Etc. Update
August 7, 2006

And so it came to be that the Glenn Kaiser Band traveled by air to Vancouver, British Columbia Canada about two weeks ago. Simple flights- Chicago to Denver, Denver to B.C., or so we thought. Turned out bad weather on the east coast had stranded our flight crew for 3 extra hours and of course a plane needs a crew. They got to the Denver terminal, then realized there was an issue with one of the engines directly affecting cabin pressurization and air conditioning, so about 5 hours late we took off and finally landed in Vancouver.

Thankfully there were no issues with the border or immigration so then we were driven by a good bro. from Back To The Blues Festival to our hotel. About 2:30 a.m. local time sleep came.

The next day I had a good visit with the Fest director, also Larry Howard and others, caught a great show by Johnny Mannion and his band, and took a nap.

Larry needed and needs prayer as he's going to have to go through a long stretch of treatments for hepatitis C which came about through his pre-Christian years of drug-shooting. So we prayed, he had a great shows as did the various bands there, including GKB. The crowd was the largest and most supportive ever and all-in-all it was a good night.

Sunday a.m. we went over and led worship and heard a great word from a local bro. on the book of Jude. Very good indeed.

Early Monday another good bro. drove us back to the airport and we flew home, getting in the house very late due to traffic and extreme heat affecting all the people (and their cars...) trying to get home from work. I have a pic (no kidding and no "touching up" done) of our van's outside thermometer registering 119 degrees! Yep, a touch hot for Chicago!!

Wendi was visiting family that weekend, so I phoned her and made arrangements to drive to western Illinois to pick her up the next morning, which I did. That next day we drove back to Chicago and about 2 hours later we hopped in the Grrr Records van with two Swiss friends who blessed us with kindness, fun and good engineering and stage work throughout our tour of Ontario. Phil and Judy are sweet and good friends!

So we drove to Cambridge that night, got in about 1:30 a.m., hit the hay and next morning after my and Wendi's laundry was done, drove up to Belleville for a great show with our friends The Bethlehem Blues Collective. That was an interesting drive due not only to Toronto traffic which is always fun at rush hour, but because of 2 accidents other commuters had, traffic truly slowed to a crawl. We got to Belleville just as the first artist was starting his set, then BBC played, then GKB. Again, great crowd and excellent chats with people after. I was able to pray with several folks about issues they're having to deal with, and it was a tired but thankful band that finally arrived waaaay out in another small Ontario town at that evening's lodging, a pretty bed-and-breakfast.

I should mention that we made an appeal for Compassion Canada that evening as well as in Kitchener, and were told 6 kids from 3rd world locations were sponsored. God BLESS those who signed up for this important area of support!!

Next morning we enjoyed a rockin' breakfast laid out by the kind lady who owns the b & b, then we drove on to Kitchener and a cool inner-city "non-church church" (!) of very kind and serving Christian artist-types who along with the Sons of God bike club put on that evening's event with BBC and GKB.

Again, great chats after the show, the set seemed to go well, but it was another late night in terms of sleep. No worries, this is life on the road, so on to Sarnia and a festival there near the bridge which crosses the St. Clair River right off of Lake Huron. Dow People Place is a cool covered venue with open sides, and the various bands that played at this year's Lakeshore Music Festival as well as the warmly receptive crowd were just great!

A short Holiday Inn night and we were up to do a Sun. morning church service, GKB leading most of the worship and myself speaking (on Col. 3.16, 17). Lakeshore Community Church has a great staff and people, and again, with the Sarnia Festival as well as the service next day, they treated us like family.

One thing we've learned over years of travel and sharing in ministry with others is that we are (the church) TRULY a family in Christ. But this becomes quite real to us as we interact and work together like we do while touring. Sitting and sharing one-another's journeys which are often very similar but of course in other areas very unique (both good!) is not only instructive but most always affirming... none of us are in this alone.

Again, THANK YOU for praying for us!

One issue I had to face just before leaving for Vancouver was that as I got out of bed one morning, there was a fair bit of pain just below my left knee. Seemed like a tendon pull or something... and for no apparent reason. I hadn't played soccer or stressed my body out since Cornerstone Festival some two weeks prior, and I had nothing in memory that would have caused this pain when I went up and down stairs.

I prayed, got prayer, took some aspirin and then after a day wrapped it, keeping it up as much as I could. The flights of course, didn't allow me to keep the leg up, and at Back To the Blues Fest I ended up hobbling around quite a bit, but by the time we left for Ontario it was perfectly healed and as I bend and directly touch the area now, no pain whatsoever! So I thank God for healing and appreciate all those who encouraged and prayed for me for this as well as traveling mercies and spiritual fruit in our current journeys... it's been real and clear, and for all this we give Praise to Jesus!

Well, I have a number of blogs to post, and a few podcasts as well. I'm also working on an in-depth article on accepting and giving accountability that I hope some will find useful. Stay tuned!

Hugs from myself, Wendi and GKB!
