Sorry for the site being down the past couple days. Our trusty tech man fixed it's ailment, thankfully!

Also apologies on my lag in getting new podcasts up... whew... travels, tours, anniversaries, P12 and pastoral stuff... you'd think I was slackin' :)

I'll get 'em done as I'm able, it's in my heart to get 'em online for ya.

35th Anniversary!

What a time Wendi and I will have! Not just a fun time at a hotel, at a Lake Michigan beach for a couple days, not only due to a good book, a swim, a smile, laugh or great personal time together with the cell phone turned off...

All of these are great but you can have such experiences without God's love, without Jesus Christ at the center of your relationship and/or experiences. You can enjoy much of the grace God has given, much of the beautiful land, water, sky and woodlands with zero consideration of Who it is that is giving it to you. It is quite possible to be grateful for a wonderful marriage and not recognize, praise and thank the God Who brought you together.

So many miss Him and are so focused on self or worship of another person that they completely miss the love and presence of God right with them... yes, even in their sins God is near... but they don't recognize Him for WHO He is and WHAT He has done for them!

Pleasure is sweet, we love it... and "God has given us all things to richly enjoy", but it is equally true that "in the last days they will be lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God". We accept and revel in the pleasures He brings us... but:

Wendi and I are so thankful for the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, for the love the Father has shown and shared with us in and through His perfect Son. The Holy Spirit lives, moves and breathes in us, not because we're special or have anything all that spectacular to offer one another or those we meet... simply due to the One God Who IS God entering our lives with passion, mercy, forgiveness, clear callings on our lives.

We will never forget our beautiful wedding and honeymoon- but our marriage is even better!

Tomorrow we take time off- because I was in Iceland and she was serving at home this past week on our actual anniversary day. We will enjoy one another fully as we normally do when we are together. But we will enjoy our God together and know that HIS presence and absolute grace in our lives has brought us "safe thus far"!

There is one key point in following Jesus... it is to follow Him
regardless of anything or anyone. Simple, but profound. I can´t
stress enough that love for someone- including love for Him, means
serving and sacrifice. It´s more important than good feelings or
sweet moments, though those both accompany our walk with God.

I have my fears as well, but neither fear, comfort nor security can
be lord or savior of my life... only Jesus can rightly occupy that
place.

Start right in your church, ask your leaders what you can do to
serve in simple, basic ways.

Ministry- that of course simply means service to Him and to people
in a particular time or place, and with regard to whatever gift or
gifts the Holy Spirit gives us, that is what our day to day walk is
largely about! Yes, I´ll pray for you the moment I hit ''send''
here, glad to do it.

Artists who truly minister via music? Well, you might like Keith
Green or Third Day or perhaps David Crowder Band, or Newsboys, maybe
older Steve Taylor music. Hard to say, that depends not only on
spiritual growth sort of lyrics but music styles you like as there
are thousands of great Christian artists out there doing all sorts
of meaningful music (accent on lyrics in particular) and great
sounding stuff. Larry Howard is great. There are so many bands, solo
artists and styles, it´s really quite broad.
